Here are three Black British women authors to check out. I’m hoping this tiny list expands your reading repertoire. I endeavor to pick a mix of mainstream authors and those who aren’t as well known. I’m featuring these three Black British women authors for Black History Month 2024 here in the UK.

The Chocolate Run Amazon.com / Amazon.co.uk
Why did I choose this author?
I love her GoodReads profile. Providing it’s genuine, it gives a nice snapshot of her personality and devotion to the craft of writing. I encourage you to head to GoodReads and read it for yourself. Here’s a snippet of her profile:
“I wrote my first novel called There’s A Thin Line Between Love And Hate when I was 13. I used to write a chapter every night then pass it around to my fellow convent school pupils every morning, and they seemed to love it.”
Plus, her books sound fun. Admittedly, this wouldn’t be my typical read, by the titles and her personality seem like fun reads so I’ve added Chocolate Run to my TBR.

Candice Braithwaite
Author of:
Manifesto: Unlock the Life You Deserve and Find Contentment in Your Everyday
Why did I choose this author?
I follow Candice on TikTok. One of my good friends recommended one of her videos a few years ago, and I’ve been hooked since. She’s honest, real, smart, and inspiring. I also love the book titles and descriptions and have added Manifesto to my TBR.

Poetry!
I’ve been meaning to get back into poetry (I write poems but haven’t done so in years) and the description of Bloodshot Monochrome sounds delightful. Added to my TBR list.
So, three Black British authors. There are, of course, tons more.
